The Radisich and Ruljanovich family are pictured above. Mandy's
sister, Antonia, married John Kuzmanich. Although John is not
pictured, three of their children are. Mandy and Antonia's brother,
Ivo (John) stayed in the old country, married, and had two daughters.
Another brother, Nick (Botsavichi) came to the America, but never
married. Another brother, Stejpen, married Christo's daughter,
(by his first marriage). On the family tree, below, I am leaving
out Mandina and Stejpan's family since their families are both
on the Radisich Tree.

Stepjan married Mary, and they had a daughter, Vica.
Stepjan died very young and Mary married George Plancich, they
had two sons, Mitchell and George. Jack and Margaret had three
children, Jack, Marlene, and Margaret. Pete and Eva had one son,
Jack. Eva died very young and Pete married Frances Smith, they
had a daughter, Patty. In the photo of Christo's mother is another
gentlemen. He is either Her brother or her brother-in-law. Christo
also had a brother "Peacho" who came to America and
later brought over a wife, Margaret Bakulich (who was Eva Separovich's
aunt and Tony Bakulich's sister). They had a daughter. After Peacho
died, his wife and daughter moved back to the old country.
When Jack was a child, his mother, Mandy, (who was
pregnant with his brother, Pete), his half-sister, Mary, and Jack
went back to the old country to visit his grandparents (Prosper
and Vica Ruljanovich). They were stuck there for two years because
of the war that was going on at the time. The Ruljanovich's were
very poor and they would send Jack out begging. If at the end
of the day, they could hear him singing as he was coming home
- they knew he had a successful day.
Jack could sing and play any musical instrument by
ear. He often would go to Old Fairhaven and entertain the patrons
of the bars with his "One Man Band." He was known as
"Smiling Jack" because he was always happy and smiling
and also in the summer on the boat he would get an almost black
sun tan, so when he smiled, all you could see was his teeth. He
died of pancreas cancer when he was only 36 years old.
Christo and Mandy had a large yard and each one of
their sons had a garden along
with their own garden and some fruit trees. They grew enough fruit
and vegetables to feed their families through the winter. During
the summer months, Jack purse seined, Pete gilnetted, and Christo
fished occasionally, but mostly he and Mandy caught, cooked, and
sold crab for a living. Mandy would walk down to the bay with
Christo and after they unloaded the crab pots, they would put
the live crab in a basket. Mandy would place the basket on her
head and walk up the hills to their house balancing the load perfectly.
Below is the Radisich family tree that I have so far: I started
out with some unknown first names and hopefully these can be filled
in by someone who comes upon this page and knows the correct names.
Perhaps we can get more of the sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles,
etc. filled in. Any corrections or additions will be greatly appreciated.

You may notice that some of the Radisich's spelled
their names with an "e" instead of an "i"
after the "d" - The only explanation for this is that
they preferred that spelling, or as in some cases with the Croatians
who came to America in the early 1900's. the census takers and/or
immigration workers who were taking names, wrote whatever spelling
the thought the name "sounded" like and the early Croatians
not wanting to argue, accepted the spelling as such. In the old
country the "h" was not used at the end of the names,
but when they came to America, the "h" was added at
the end, because the English language "ich" sound needs
the "h" and for some reason the "ic" sound
in the English language sounds like "ik". The Americans
were the confused ones, the Croatians must have rolled their eyes
at the stupidity of the English language, but went along.

back to the old country for a bride. (Margaret Bakulich) When
Antone died, Margaret went back to Vis with their daughter.Steve

nothing is known of him or his descendants.

Kate Radisich married Dominic Radeovich. They had children, but
the only one I know of was Antone.
Antone went to sea on a Russian freighter that was heading for
Cuba. When he reached America, he jumped ship and changed his
last name to Mustappa (which was his nickname in the old country),
because he was afraid that the Russians were looking for him.
He married Mary Brodanovich on June 1, 1912 in Bellingham, WA.
